Newfoundland and Labrador and
Irish companies partner Kathy Dunderdale, Minister of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development for the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, and Michael Ahern, Minister of Trade and Commerce and Chairman of the Ireland Newfoundland Partnership, are pleased to announce that a Newfoundland metal fabricator will sign a partnership contract with an Irish company to manufacture an energy-saving heating system tank in Newfoundland and Labrador. The contract will be signed this evening in Dublin, Ireland at the Department of the Taoiseach. "Bursey Manufacturing Inc. of Conception Bay South and Oxyvent Ltd. of Killarney, Ireland, are two innovative companies that are combining their expertise to launch a new product onto the North American market," said Minister Dundedale. "My officials have been working with these two companies for some months and I am pleased the Department of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development has been able to help bring these two companies together." Minster Ahern, Minister for Trade and Commerce and Chairman of the Ireland Newfoundland Partnership, is confident that this agreement will, "serve as a model to enhance and deepen the already existing business links between Ireland and Newfoundland and Labrador." Bursey Manufacturing fabricates a range of steel, stainless steel and aluminum oil and septic tanks. Oxyvent has developed a patented device called a Cremin Tank for removing trapped air in hot water radiators and under-floor heating systems to boost heating efficiency. Bursey will manufacture Oxyvents Cremin Tanks for distribution and sale in North America. "For 14 years our company has striven to produce a first-rate product, extend its product line, and increase its export sales," said Bill Bursey of Bursey Manufacturing. "We are delighted to be partnering with Oxyvent to produce a heat-saving device that will benefit Newfoundland and Labrador homeowners and be of interest to homeowners throughout Canada and the United States." "We were attracted to Newfoundland by its competitive business tax rates and a time difference of only three-and-a-half hours with Ireland which makes it ideal for doing business," says Tim Cremin of Oxyvent. "Our meetings with Bursey Manufacturing convinced us that they would be a good match and we are pleased to be able to offer our product to Canadians and Americans." Mr. Cremin noted that the Cremin tank is already being manufactured under licence in the Netherlands. Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Danny Williams and Minister Dunderdale visited Ireland in July. On that visit, which was arranged by the Ireland Newfoundland Partnership, the Premier and Taoiseach Bertie Ahern signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) renewing both regions commitment to strengthening ties and developing linkages between the province and Ireland.
