Talks to resume between IOCC and Steelworkers Union

Joan Burke, Minister of Human Resources, Labour and Employment, is pleased to report that conciliation talks between the Iron Ore Company of Canada (IOCC) and the United Steelworkers of America in Labrador City will reconvene on Monday, August 23. "The Labour Relations Agency has maintained close contact with the parties and has now called them back to the table for exploratory talks," said Minister Burke.

"I am encouraged that the parties have agreed to resume negotiations. Our mediator will work with the employer and the union to help them find common ground that can serve as the basis for a new collective agreement and bring an end to the strike that is now into its fifth week."

The Labour Relations Agency is dedicated to fostering a positive labour-management climate in the province through the provision of conciliation, facilitation and mediation services.
