Labour relations success achieved on three fronts with the assistance of provincial
conciliators

An agreement between S.W. Moores Memorial Stadium in Harbour Grace and the Transport and Allied Workers, Teamsters local 855, has ended a two-week strike by seven stadium employees.

The dispute ended yesterday, March 11, with the assistance of John Hodder, a mediator with the Government of Newfoundland and Labradors new Labour Relations Agency.

"The successful resolution of this dispute will allow regular activities to resume at the stadium which is key for organizations such as the local Minor Hockey Association," said Joan Burke, Minister responsible for Human Resouces, Labour and Employment.

The minister is also pleased today to announce that a collective agreement has been reached between the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Private Employees and the Battery Hotel and Suites with the assistance of Herb Ebsary, a senior mediator with the Labour Relations Agency.

In addition, the minister reports that the Transport and Allied Workers, Teamster Local 855 and City Honda Limited, St. Johns have reached a new collective agreement with the assistance of mediator Brian Kenny.

"I want to take this opportunity to congratulate all parties on reaching a new agreement which will help to ensure labour stability in these workplaces for the next several years,"said Minister Burke.

The minister noted that the governments new Labour Relations Agency is dedicated to fostering a positive labour-management climate in the province through the provision of conciliation, facilitation and mediation services.
