Province continuing to examine FPI proposal

Trevor Taylor, Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, confirmed today that the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador continues to examine the Fisheries Products International (FPI) proposal regarding its U.S. marketing division.

"We have clearly indicated to FPI that any transactions should protect the best interests of our seafood industry and rural areas in the province," said Minister Taylor. "I anticipate that we will soon be in a position to publicly announce our assessment of their latest proposal. In the meantime, provincial government officials will continue to scrutinize FPIs proposed transaction."
