Environmental Assessment Bulletin

Environment and Conservation Minister Tom Osborne has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

South Brook to Robert's Arm Snowmobile Trail                                   (Reg.1168)
Proponent: Green Bay Snowmobile Association

The proponent plans to develop a snowmobile trail from the Town of South Brook to Robert's Arm, in the Halls Bay area, cental Newfoundland. The proposed trail will be located to the south of Route 380 and is approximately 32 kilometres in length. The trail will utilize existing woods roads and snowmobile trails over the planned route with construction of approximately 14 kilometres of new trail required and will be six metres wide throughout the route. Trail construction is planned to commence as soon as all permits are in place. The undertaking was registered on December 10, 2004; public comments are due by January 14, 2005; and the minister's decision is due by January 24, 2005.

The minister encourages all interested parties to become involved and to make comments known. Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and are welcome prior to the deadline date shown.

Environmental protection plans accepted as satisfactory:

The Cartwright Junction to Happy Valley-Goose Bay Trans Labrador Highway Project phases 2-04 and 3-04 PHG Environmental Protection Plans have been accepted as satisfactory. The Environmental Protection Plans pertain to construction of the section of two lane gravel surface highway extending from km 551.7 to 579.8 and 550.0 to 551.3 starting from Happy Valley-Goose Bay and proceeding east.
