Environmental Assessment Bulletin

Environment and Conservation Minister Tom Osborne has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act. 

UNDERTAKINGS RELEASED: 

(1) Port Saunders Breakwater, Wharf Construction and Dredging                       (Reg. 1155)
Proponent: Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO)

(2) Glenwood Composting Facility                    (Reg. 1153)
Proponent: North Atlantic Lumber Inc.

The minister has released the Glenwood composting project from further environmental assessment subject to the following preconditions:

• Proof of financial assurances in the form of $1,000,000 environmental liability insurance, $100,000 guaranteed letter of credit from a recognized lending institution and $1,000,000 vehicle liability insurance;
• Obtaining an amendment or revocation of an Order of the Office of the Fire Commissioner dated 30 April, 2003; and,
• Proof of revocation, or compliance with the amendment, of the Order of the Office of the Fire Commissioner.

UNDERTAKING WITHDRAWN:

(1) Williams Harbour (Labrador) Access Road                  (Reg. 1097)
Proponent: Department of Transportation and Works

The proponent has withdrawn the above undertaking from environmental assessment review.
