Environmental Assessment Bulletin

Environment and Conservation Minister Tom Osborne has announced the following event relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING RELEASED:

Botwood (Northern Arm) Mink Fur Farm                                   (Reg. 1152)
Proponent: Mr. Kjeld Balle Jense

The minister has released the above project from further environmental assessment subject to the following condition:

  • The mink farm, which includes sheds to house the mink, manure storage facilities and fields for spreading manure, must be located outside the watershed of Charles Brook / Indian Cove Pond which is used as a water supply by the Town of Point of Bay.

To accommodate the above requirement, the proponent has chosen a site in the northern portion of the area submitted in the registration document which is outside the above watershed area.
