Environment and Conservation Minister Tom Osborne has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

COMPONENT STUDY SUPPLEMENTARY ADDENDUM ACCEPTED AS SATISFACTORY:

Cartwright Junction to Happy Valley-Goose Bay Trans Labrador Highway
Proponent: Department of Transportation and Works 

The Cartwright Junction to Happy Valley-Goose Bay Trans Labrador Highway Fish and Fish Habitat Component Study Supplementary Addendum, dated March 2004, has been accepted as satisfactory by the Minister.

UNDERTAKINGS RELEASED:

(1) District 9 (Sops Lake/Black Ridge) 5-Year Forest Management Plan Amendment            (Reg. 1124)
Proponent: Department of Natural Resources (Forestry Branch)

(2) Deer Lake Integrated Sawmill (Relocation)                                                                    (Reg. 1122)
Proponent: Eastwood Forestry Products Incorporated

The above undertaking is released from further environmental assessment subject to the following condition:

• The existing treed buffer between the project boundary and the Trans Canada Highway be maintained to provide an effective screen to minimize the visibility of the site from the Trans Canada Highway.
