Environmental Assessment Bulletin

Environment and Conservation Minister Tom Osborne has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Little Harbour (Deer Lake) Residential Development                      (Reg. 1125)
Proponent: Lakeside Investments Inc.

The proponent proposes a rural residential development along the shores of Deer Lake adjacent to Little Harbour. The development will encompass up to 17.7 hectares of forested land and will include 55 rural residential lots ranging in size from 0.3 hectares to 0.4 hectares. Access to the site will be via an existing extension to the access road off the Trans Canada Highway servicing the residences of Little Harbour. The development will include roads, electrical, water supply (Deer Lake), and sewage treatment (individual residential systems). Start of construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in late summer, 2004. The undertaking was registered on March 29, 2004; public comments are due by May 4, 2004; and, the minister's decision is due on May 13, 2004.

The minister encourages all interested parties to become involved and to make comments known. Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the Minister, and are welcome prior to the deadline date shown.
