Environmental Assessment Bulletin

Environment Minister Tom Osborne has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Eastport Nine Hole Pitch and Putt Golf Course                                                      (Reg. 1117)
Proponent: Graham C. Feltham

The proponent proposes to develop a nine-hole pitch and putt golf course adjacent to an existing bed and breakfast operating as "Inn by the Sea" in Eastport. The golf course will be located on Route 310, on the road to Salvage and will be accessed from the existing gravel road to the bed and breakfast. The site is approximately 15 acres. Physical features will include parking, registration office, equipment and storage shed, nine-hole golf course, irrigation system and pathways. Construction is tentatively scheduled to commence in the spring of 2004, with completion in the spring of 2006. The undertaking was registered on January 23, 2004; public comments are due by March 1, 2004; and, the minister's decision is due on March 8, 2004.

The minister encourages all interested parties to become involved and to make comments known. Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and are welcome prior to the deadline date shown.

UNDERTAKING RELEASED:

Burnt Ridge, Elliston Wind Power Project (Bonavista Peninsula)                           (Reg. 1106)
Proponent: Wind Project Incorporated

The undertaking is released from further environmental assessment subject to the following condition:

  • An avian monitoring program will be required. The proponent is required to contact the Inland Fish and Wildlife Division, Department of Tourism, Culture and Recreation and Canadian Wildlife Service, Environment Canada for the monitoring requirements.
