Youth Services and Post-Secondary Education Minister Anna Thistle will launch a new program designed to keep post-secondary graduates in the province, with $3 million announced in Budget 2003.

Youth Opportunities Newfoundland and Labrador will provide incentives for employers who hire co-operative work-term students and new graduates. These incentives will make it easier for students and graduates to find meaningful employment in their professional careers. Details on this initiative will be announced when they are finalized.

"Youth out-migration, youth employment, student debt, rural revitalization and business expansion are issues government continues to address," said Minister Thistle. "This program will make it easier for students and graduates to find meaningful employment and pay off their student debts by working right here in Newfoundland and Labrador."
