CareerSearch 2002 contest - enter to win a tuition voucher

Level III students throughout Newfoundland and Labrador are encouraged to enter the CareerSearch 2002 tuition voucher giveaway contest being offered by the Department of Youth Services and Post-Secondary Education.

"This contest is a wonderful opportunity for all graduating high school students to make use of the wealth of career information in CareerSearch 2002," said Youth Services and Post-Secondary Education Minister Anna Thistle. "Students can use CareerSearch to help them make well-informed decisions about post-secondary programs."

One student from each of the provinces 11 school districts will be awarded a $500 tuition voucher. Winners will be selected at random from individual pools in their school districts, and vouchers are redeemable at any post-secondary institution in the province, until March 31, 2004. Students can enter the contest by visiting the CareerSearch 2002 website at: www.gov.nl.ca/youth/careersearch.htm and completing the online application form. Entries can be submitted online directly through the website, or by mail or fax to:

Eligibility requires that all entries include the correct answer to the contest question, as well as the name of the post-secondary program, institution and campus the student plans to attend. Only one entry per student will be accepted.

The contest deadline is May 15, 2003, and all winners will be posted on the CareerSearch 2002 Web site.

The idea for the tuition voucher contest was developed to encourage students across the province to seek out the valuable information in CareerSearch - either in the book or online. Students can look up the program, what they can expect to earn and how satisfied previous graduates were with their course.

"This report is an invaluable tool to support students in making one of the most important decisions of their lives," added Minister Thistle. "We believe students should take programs they are interested in, and know up front what to expect when they finish."
