NLIS 10 September 25, 2003 (Works, Services and Transportation) Contract awarded for Happy Valley-Goose Bay court house Works, Services and Transportation Minister Jim Walsh, Justice Minister Kelvin Parsons and Labrador and Aboriginal Affairs Minister Wally Andersen announced today a contract, valued at $2,082,500, has been awarded to Colby Construction Ltd. of St. John�s. The contract involves the design and construction of a new Supreme Court Building in Happy Valley-Goose Bay. "I am excited we have awarded the tender and are now able to move forward with constructing this building," said Minister Walsh. "We expect to start the project within the next month to ensure the foundation and steel frame can be installed before the winter season. Construction of the building itself will commence in Spring 2004 and is expected to be completed by September of that year." "We must never lose sight of the fact that we have an obligation to provide an effective and impartial judicial public service for the province�s citizens," said Minister Parsons. "The Department of Justice continues it efforts to improve the services and facilities in place to serve the residents of Newfoundland and Labrador." "This is just one of many commitments this government has made to the people of Labrador that have been kept," said Minister Andersen.
