Temporary schedule adjustment to the MV Trans Gulf freight run

Jim Walsh, Minister of Works, Services and Transportation, wishes to inform the public that, due to the build-up of excess freight in Cartwright, there will be a temporary adjustment to the third scheduled bi-weekly freight run between Lewisporte and Nain.

The Trans Gulf will arrive in Cartwright today and is expected to depart early tomorrow morning from Cartwright, heading north.

"As there is a surplus of freight in Cartwright, the freight run out of Lewisporte will be delayed by approximately three to four days," said Minister Walsh. "This is to ensure government honours its primary commitment of effectively providing goods and services to the people of the north coast of Labrador."

Earlier this summer, freight service was reinstated in the town of Lewisporte, via the MV Trans Gulf, in order to adequately provide ports along the north coast of Labrador, including Black Tickle, with a viable freight service.
