Road improvements for Humber Valley

Works, Services and Transportation Minister Jim Walsh, along with MHA Rick Woodford, announced today road upgrades for the district of Humber Valley.

"This government strives to improve the conditions of local roads in the province and we are pleased to be able to carry out these significant road upgrades in Humber Valley this year," said Minister Walsh. "The work we plan to carry out will be funded from the $23 million provincial capital roads program which was announced in the 2003-04 provincial budget."

Minister Walsh said the department will resurface a section of Route 420 to Sops Arm. The department will also install a snowmobile underpass at Glide Lake Brook on the Trans Canada Highway.

"Resurfacing these roads will mean a smoother drive for motorists in the area," said Mr. Woodford. "Additionally, the snowmobile underpass at Glide Lake Brook will provide users with a safe highway crossing, decreasing the chances of snowmobile-auto highway collisions."
