Bridge replacement planned for Windsor-Springdale

Jim Walsh, Minister of Works, Services and Transportation, announced today his department plans to replace the timber bridge in Brighton in the district of Windsor-Springdale.

"It is a top priority of this department to make travel efficient and safe for Newfoundlanders and Labradorians," said Minister Walsh. "We have a $23 million provincial capital roads budget, which is a $1 million increase over last year. Our provincial roads budget this year will allow us to make some important upgrades, such as replacing this 31-year old timber bridge with a two-lane concrete bridge. I am sure people in the community will be very pleased when the new structure is in place."

Minister Walsh added that tenders for this project will be called within the next two months.
