The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

Provincial basketball tournaments

The Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association will host two Minor Pepsi Championships this weekend, April 4-6. The Coast Juvenile Girls "A" is scheduled for Fatima Academy in St. Brides with six teams entered. Teams entered include: Laval of Placentia, Mt. Pearl High, Mobile High, St. Kevin�s of Goulds, Roncalli of Avondale and the host Fatima Academy. The East Coast Juvenile Girls "B" championship will be held at Baltimore School in Ferryland with eight teams competing for the title. Teams entered include St. Kevin�s Junior�s of Goulds, St. Catherine�s of St. Mary�s Bay, I. J. Samson, St. Bonaventure�s and Prince of Wales Collegiate of St. John�s, O�Donel High of Mt. Pearl, Carbonear Collegiate and the host Baltimore. Competition is set to get underway on Friday afternoon with the championship games slated for Saturday evening for the "A" division and Sunday afternoon for the "B" division.
