The following is being distributed at the request of the Newfoundland and Labrador High School Athletic Federation:

Provincial high school wrestling championships scheduled this weekend

Top male and female wrestlers will converge on Stephenville this weekend for the High School Wrestling Championships. Over 90 male and 40 female wrestlers will compete for team and individual honors. Individual champions will be declared in the following weight classes: 36kg, 38 kg, 40 kg, 42 kg, 46 kg, 49 kg, 55 kg, 58 kg, 62 kg, 70 kg, 74 kg, 78 kg, 82kg, 95 kg and H.W.T. Placings in each of the weight classes will determine points for the overall team total.

Wrestlers from the following schools have earned a berth in the provincial championships: Regina High (Corner Brook), Templeton Collegiate (Gillams), St. James High (Port Aux Basques), Appalachia High (St. Georges), Elwood High (Deer Lake), Main River Academy (Sops Arm), Crescent Collegiate (Blaketown), Carbonear Collegiate, Viking Trail Academy (Plum Point) and the host, Stephenville High.

All teams involved will be competing for gold and silver medals and the championship banner. Individual sportsmanship awards will also be presented for each tournament, sponsored by Crime Stoppers of Newfoundland and Labrador.

All the Federation�s tournaments are sponsored by School Milk Foundation/Dairy Farmers of Newfoundland and Labrador and Crime Stoppers Newfoundland and Labrador.
