The following is being distributed at the request of the Emergency Operations Centre in Badger:

The Department of Government Services and Lands, in conjunction with the Badger Fire Department, has been conducting inspections of residential furnace oil tanks since the flood occurred in Badger on Saturday, February 15.

The flood left 45 - 50 homes with their furnace oil tanks surrounded by ice.

A crew has commenced further inspections today in the Maple Street area, securing tanks that have tipped due to water and ice movement. Tanks that are in danger of having their lines broken are being pumped off in order to prevent environmental damage.
