Minister Noel welcomes C-NOPB appointment

Mines and Energy Minister Walter Noel today welcomed the appointment of Mr. Norman J. Whalen, QC, as a member and Vice-Chairman of the Canada-Newfoundland Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NOPB).  The appointment was made earlier today by Herb Dhaliwal, Minister of Natural Resources Canada.

"While this is a federal appointment, the designation of Mr. Whalen as Vice-Chairman is a welcomed selection by the provincial government," said Minister Noel.  "Mr. Whalen has an extensive background in the public and private sector, and his experience in the field of labour relations will be an asset to this position.

"I am certain that the interests of both Canada and Newfoundland and Labrador will be well served by Mr. Whalen�s appointment."
