Minister calls parties back to bargaining table

Percy Barrett, Minister of Labour, today announced that he has called the parties involved in the CHC Composites labour dispute back to the bargaining table.

Minister Barrett said: "This strike started on September 3, 2003 and is now entering its fifth week. Senior officials from my department have maintained constant contact with the parties throughout this labour dispute and now feel it�s time for them to return to the table and explore every option for settlement. I have instructed my senior officials to help both parties make every effort to resolve any outstanding issues and reach a positive resolution to the dispute."

The talks are set to begin Wednesday, October 15, and will include the negotiating teams for the Canadian Auto Workers Union, Local 597 and CHC Composites, Gander and senior officials from the Department of Labour.
