Department contributes $2,000 to indoor air quality campaign

The Department of Labour has made a $2,000 contribution to the Newfoundland and Labrador Lung Associations Workplace Indoor Air Quality Programming. The department has contributed over $30,000 to this campaign since it first began in 1996.

"We are delighted to partner with the Lung Association again this year," said Labour Minister Anna Thistle. "Government recognizes the importance of this annual campaign and I encourage families, organizations, workplaces and individuals to commit to improving the air we breathe, both inside and outside."

One in five Newfoundlanders and Labradorians suffer from some form of breathing problem. This programming focuses on second-hand smoke, personal scents, cleaning products; incorporating all chemical sensitivities.

"We certainly want to thank the Department of Labour for this contribution," said Sandra Chaytor, president of the Newfoundland and Labrador Lung Association. "Not only will the programming help those with breathing problems, but all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians in their workplaces."
