Funding provides for additional Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officers

Justice Minister Kelvin Parsons today announced that Budget 2003 provides funding to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary to hire 15 permanent officers.

"Keeping the public safe is a priority for government. To enhance public safety, we are providing funding that will enable the constabulary to add 15 new permanent positions to the force. This will be a combination of first class constables and more junior officers," said Minister Parsons.

"As a result of governments commitment to provide sustainable and prudent policing services the additional officers will increase public protection, as well as increasing the safety of our officers," he said.
