NOTE TO EDITORS: Members of House of Assembly to be sworn-in, St. John's, November 12

Those elected in the October 21 provincial general election will be sworn-in at a ceremony in the House of Assembly Chamber, Confederation Building at 2:00 p.m. today (Wednesday, November 12) by His Honour the Lieutenant Governor, The Honourable Edward Roberts. This will be the first time the Queen's representative for Newfoundland and Labrador has presided over the swearing-in of MHAs following a provincial general election.

After the swearing-in ceremony, all members will elect an independent Speaker of the House of Assembly.

Media representatives intending to cover the swearing-in are asked to contact the Communications and Consultation Branch at (709) 729-3812 or (709) 685-3664 by 12 noon, today, November 12.

The House of Assembly Broadcast Centre will provide a media feed. Media representatives are asked to be in place by 1:30 p.m.

The ceremony will be carried live on television over the House of Assembly channel.
