Officials advise no travel restrictions within Canada

Dr. Faith Stratton, chief medical officer of health for Newfoundland and Labrador, wishes to advise the public there is no reason to restrict travel anywhere within Canada, including the Toronto area. This advisory is based on an in-depth analysis of all Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) cases within Canada, and an assessment of the current situation by Health Canada and Canadas chief medical officers of health.

"While we understand the concern of residents of this province with respect to travel to areas where there are cases of SARS, there is no need for alarm," said Dr. Stratton. "Our position remains the same - individuals should continue to use good personal hygiene practices when travelling."
