Terrenceville man convicted for illegal salmon possession

A 64-year old man from Terrenceville was recently convicted in Provincial Court at Grand Bank for illegal possession of three Atlantic salmon. The individual was fined $1,000 and prohibited from angling in inland waters for a period of one year. In addition, the salmon along with other related items were forfeited to the Crown.

The conviction stems from charges laid against the individual under the federal Fisheries Act and the provincial Wildlife Act and Regulations.

The charges were laid by conservation officers with the Department of Forest Resources and Agrifoods as a result of evidence received during an investigation and a subsequent search of a residence in Terrenceville in October 2002.
