Bay of Islands men charged under the Wildlife Act

Conservation officers with the Department of Forest Resources and Agrifoods have laid a total of five charges against two men from Hughes Brook on the north shore of the Bay of Islands for alleged offences under the Wildlife Act. The charges include illegally hunting moose, illegal possession of moose and careless handling of a firearm.

The charges were laid following an investigation into moose being killed near the Humber River where a new golf course is being constructed. The investigation, which took place in December 2002, also resulted in the seizure of two vehicles, a pick-up truck and a car.

The two individuals are due to appear in court in February.
