Premier reissues call for debate on insurance

Premier Roger Grimes said today he will participate in a debate, outside the House of Assembly, with the Leader of the Opposition and the Leader of the New Democratic Party on auto insurance reform.

"All three parties have presented three very different approaches on how they would reform the auto insurance system in Newfoundland and Labrador. This has caused much confusion for the people of the province. The people can benefit from such a discussion whereby all party leaders can be questioned about their views on insurance reform. This cannot happen in the House of Assembly as opposition parties are not questioned in that environment. This issue is one that affects consumers of this province and they have a right to have clear information on this issue."

The Premier continued, "Therefore, I invite an interested independent party to take the opportunity to organize such a debate. I assure the public that I will participate and in fact look forward to such a debate.
