New appointments to Government Caucus

Premier Roger Grimes announced today appointments in the Government Caucus.

Kevin Aylward, MHA for the district of St. Georges - Stephenville East, is the Chair of the Liberal Caucus and Chair of the Resource Committee of the House of Assembly. Sandra Kelly, MHA for the district of Gander, now holds the position of Party Whip and is Chair of the House of Assembly Social Services Committee. Lloyd Matthews, MHA for the district of St. Johns North, is the Chair of the House of Assembly Government Services Committee. Ernie McLean, MHA for the district of Lake Melville, becomes Vice Chair of the Public Accounts Committee.

Mary Hodder, MHA for Burin - Placentia West, has the role of Deputy Speaker and Roland Butler, MHA for Port de Grave, is the Chair of Committees.

"Solid and strong government relies on the input of many," said Premier Grimes. "The Government Caucus has always operated on the premise that everyones opinion and perspective is necessary as we establish goals, set an agenda and deliver on commitments. These caucus members continue to play significant roles in defining the strategic plan that we have set in the Speech from the Throne and this weeks Budget. Both documents illustrate a government with a plan for the future, a government that reflects the values of the people, a government that values partnerships. They bring a wealth of experience and expertise to these new roles,"
