Lieutenant Governor to visit Badger

His Honour, the Lieutenant Governor Edward Roberts, will travel to central Newfoundland this evening, Thursday, February 20. Tomorrow, His Honour will see first hand the destruction caused by the flood in Badger. He will join Minister Oliver Langdon and Minister Anna Thistle for the regular morning Emergency Measures Organization (EMO) briefing in Badger. In the afternoon, His Honour will visit some of the displaced residents of Badger in Grand Falls - Windsor.

While in Grand Falls - Windsor, His Honour will administer the Oath of Office for Cabinet to Anna Thistle. She did not attend the Swearing in Ceremony at Government House this week, choosing to stay in her district following the flood.

The schedule for His Honour for Friday, February 21, 2003, follows:

9:00 a.m.       Administration of Oath of Office for the Honourable Anna Thistle
                     Grand Falls - Windsor Town Office                   

10:00 a.m.     His Honour will attend the EMO morning briefing

11:00 a.m.     His Honour will tour the flood area

1:00 p.m.       His Honour will have lunch with people from Badger at the Pentecostal Church in Grenfell
                     Heights   

For the remainder of the afternoon, His Honour will visit with people from Badger at the emergency shelters, including Carmelite House, and tour the Armoury which is serving as a centre for the Canadian Red Cross and other rescue officials.
