The following is a message of condolence from Premier Roger Grimes:

A terrible loss has befallen this province, and in particular the people of Musgrave Harbour.

From the sea thousands of us earn a living while many thousands more look to the sea as an integral part of who we are. Hardship and loss have endured. Knowing this, however, never makes it easier to accept.

The people of Musgrave Harbour are going through a very difficult time right now. As Premier I want to let them know that the whole province is thinking of them. We pray that the families and the community will have strength to sustain them during this sad time.

The closeness and the ties of community are reflected these past several days in the kindness of strangers and neighbours. I commend and thank the agencies involved in the search and rescue, the volunteers with Coast Guard Auxiliary, the captain and crew of the Lady Easton II and community members. Thank you, also to the members of the clergy and community who continue to support the families and friends so profoundly affected by this tragedy. You all do a remarkable service to your friends, and community.

I ask all people in the province to join with me in relaying our sincerest condolences to the Faulkner, Hann and Fahey families and the people of Musgrave Harbour.
