Environmental Assessment Bulletin

Environment Minister Tom Osborne has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

McLean Lake, Birch Brook Ski Trail                                                                          (Reg. 1115)
Proponent: Birch Brook Nordic Ski Club

The proponent proposes to construct a cross-country ski trail with warm-up huts in the McLean Lake area of Labrador, near Happy Valley-Goose Bay. A nine kilometre wilderness back-country trail will be cut and warm-up huts will be constructed between McLean Lake and the next series of ponds to the west. Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in the spring of 2004. The undertaking was registered on December 31, 2003; public comments are due by February 4, 2004; and the minister's decision is due on February 14, 2004.

The minister encourages all interested parties to become involved and to make comments known. Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and are welcome prior to the deadline date shown.
