Environmental Assessment Bulletin

Environment Minister Bob Mercer has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:
Moosehead Lake, Labrador Cottage Access Road
Proponent: Mr. Doug Rice

The proponent plans to construct an 800 metre access road to an existing recreational cottage at Moose Head Lake, Labrador. The proposed cottage access road is located approximately 15 kilometres east of Labrador City. Construction of the project will take approximately 2 to 3 days, using a D6 bulldozer or equivalent piece of machinery. The undertaking was registered on October 7, 2003; public comments are due by November 11, 2003; and, the minister�s decision is due on November 21, 2003.

COMPONENT STUDY ADDENDUM SUBMITTED:
Cartwright Junction to Happy Valley-Goose Bay Trans Labrador Highway
Proponent: Department of Works, Services and Transportation

The proponent has submitted the following Addenda for Component Studies. The Addenda are to address further work required by the Minister of Environment. Public comments on each of the Component Study Addenda are to be provided to the Minister of Environment and must be received by November 10, 2003.

Waterfowl Component Study Addendum - The minister�s decision date on the adequacy of the Addendum is November 22, 2003.

Raptor Component Study Addendum - The minister�s decision date on the adequacy of the Addendum is November 22, 2003.

Tourism and Recreation Component Study Addendum - The minister�s decision date on the adequacy of the Addendum is November 25, 2003.

Copies of the Component Study Addenda will be available from the Department�s website when electronic copies are received from the proponent, or are available by contacting Ed Kaufhold, Environmental Assessment Division at (709) 729-0090 or e-mail ekaufhold@gov.nl.ca.

The minister encourages all interested parties to become involved and to make comments known. Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and are welcome prior to the deadline date shown.
