Environmental Assessment Bulletin

Environment Minister Bob Mercer has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Hinds Lake Snowmobile Trail
Proponent: Newfoundland and Labrador Snowmobile Federation

The proponent plans to construct a six kilometre snowmobile trail on the south side of Hinds Lake, in central Newfoundland. The proposed trail will connect the existing snowmobile trail to a road near the Hinds Lake spill dam at the eastern end of the lake. The rational for the trail is to by-pass an unsafe section of trail, originally approved over water and the new trail will skirt around bogs in the area. The undertaking was registered on September 8, 2003; public comments are due by October 14, 2003; and, the minister's decision is due on October 23, 2003.

The minister encourages all interested parties to become involved and to make comments known. Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and are welcome prior to the deadline date shown.
