Environmental Assessment Bulletin

Environment Minister Bob Mercer has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Corner Brook Communication Tower
Proponent: Aliant Telecom Inc.

The proponent proposes to construct a communication tower along the Humber River at Bear Head Road (Dancing Point) in Corner Brook. The proposed project involves the erection of a communication tower (30 metres high) and construction of an electronics building (3 metres by 7 metres) including access road and fencing. The proponent proposes to start construction upon release from the environmental assessment process. The undertaking was registered on September 2, 2003; public comments are due by October 7, 2003; and, the minster�s decision is due October 17, 2003.

The minister encourages all interested parties to become involved and to make comments known. Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and are welcome prior to the deadline date shown.

UNDERTAKING RELEASED:

Ramea Wind-Diesel Demonstration Project
Proponent: Frontier Power Systems Inc.

The above undertaking is released from further environmental assessment subject to the provision that a bird monitoring program must be prepared and submitted for the minister�s approval prior to any construction activity taking place.
