$6.2 million allocated for development of curriculum

Budget 2003 allocates $6.2 million for curriculum development, including $1.7 million toward implementing a portion of the curriculum-related recommendations in the Sparkes-Williams Report.

"I am pleased that again this year, we will provide $6.2 million toward curriculum development in the province," said Gerry Reid, Minister of Education. "The $1.7 million will be used to complete the implementation of the curriculum recommendations in the Sparkes-Williams Report. This brings the total expenditure on implementing the curriculum recommendations of the report to more than $5.1 million over the past three years.

"This funding will ensure that new curriculum such as Newfoundland and Labrador history, religious studies and science is implemented in this coming school year."
