Minister to attend 82nd CMEC meeting

Sandra C. Kelly, Minister of Youth Services and Post-Secondary Education, will lead a delegation from her department and the Department of Education at the 82nd Annual Council of Ministers of Education Canada (CMEC) meeting in Winnipeg, Manitoba, October 7-9. Items on the agenda for discussion include student financial assistance, School Achievement Indicators Program and credit transfer for post-secondary institutions.

CMEC was established in 1967 as a forum for ministers of education to discuss issues of mutual concern. CMEC is the national voice for education in Canada and is the mechanism through which ministers consult and act on matters of mutual interest, and the instrument through which they consult and cooperate with national education organizations and the federal government. CMEC also represents the education interests of the provinces and territories internationally.
