NOTE TO EDITORS:

Sandra C. Kelly, Minister of Youth Services and Post-Secondary Education, will attend the Skills Canada Competition and Canada Apprenticeship Forum in Vancouver, British Columbia, from May 30 to June 4.

The 2002 Canada Skills Competition, which is scheduled from May 30 - June 2, allows young Canadians, studying a skilled trade or technology, to challenge themselves and to become the best in their discipline. Team Newfoundland and Labrador will have a total of 38 students from both high school and post-secondary institutions competing in the Canada Skills Competition.

The 2002 Apprenticeship Conference Apprenticeship is the Future, which is scheduled for June 2 to 4, will provide an opportunity for the apprenticeship community across Canada to come together to showcase ideas, initiatives and efforts designed to enhance and improve apprenticeship and skilled trades training.
