Cooper Boulevard extension open to traffic

Percy Barrett, Minister of Works, Services and Transportation, and Sandra Kelly, MHA for the District of Gander, announced today the extension to Cooper Boulevard is open to traffic. The extension is 2.6 kilometres in length and is valued at $1.5 million.

"The completion of the extension means Cooper Boulevard is now connected with Route 330, Gander Bay Road," said Minister Barrett. "Cooper Boulevard now provides a link between Route 330 and the Trans Canada Highway, thereby re-routing traffic from a fairly congested and residential area along Route 330. It will also provide a direct connection from Route 330 to the airport and the industrial area to the east of Gander."

"I have been lobbying extensively for an extension to Cooper Boulevard since becoming MHA in 1996 and I am extremely pleased to announce its opening," said Minister Kelly. "The completion of this road will ensure traffic is diverted out of residential areas while providing great benefit to businesses in the area."
