Ministers announce appointment of design consultants
for Clarenville Long Term Care Facility

Works, Services and Transportation Minister Percy Barrett and Health and Community Services Minister Gerald Smith today announced the appointment of S.G.E. Acres consulting group to complete the design work for the new long term care facility in Clarenville.

"This is an important part of the process of getting the construction of the long term care facility underway," said Minister Barrett. "S.G.E. Acres will develop the concept design and provide a preliminary cost estimate for the proposed long term care facility. Following this assessment, government will approve an appropriate project cost and work will commence on the detailed drawings to enable us to construct this building."

S.G.E. Acres is a consulting company based in Clarenville. It is expected that the consultants will begin their work in late November and will present their results to the departments of Works, Services and Transportation and Health and Community Services sometime in the new year.

"We are pleased to see this appointment today," said Minister Smith. "It is evidence of our commitment to a nursing home for residents in the Clarenville area and our continued commitment to ensuring health facilities in our province are of a high quality and accessible to all residents."
