Tender awarded for almost $3 million in road upgrades in Humber Valley, Humber East

Percy Barrett, Minister of Works, Services and Transportation, Rick Woodford, MHA for Humber Valley, and Bob Mercer, MHA for Humber East, announced today a contract valued at $2,839,592 has been awarded to Humber Valley Paving Limited of Corner Brook to complete road work in the area.

Work will include:

  • paving a section of Route One (Trans Canada Highway) from Power House Bridge to Pynn�s Brook;
  • paving a section of both Jackson�s Arm Road (Route 420) and Howley Road;
  • paving Godfather Cove Road;
  • paving local roads in Howley;
  • paving a portion of the old Trans Canada Highway through Pasadena

"These road improvement projects demonstrate our commitment to building upon the province�s transportation infrastructure, and will certainly create much easier driving conditions for motorists traveling in these areas," said Minister Barrett.

Mr. Woodford said: "I am extremely pleased with the awarding of this contract for road upgrades in my district. This funding recognizes that improving driving conditions for area residents and visitors and strengthening the region�s overall infrastructure is a priority for government."

Work will begin immediately and be completed by September 30.
