$1.5 million contract awarded for Northern peninsula road improvements

Percy Barrett, Minister of Works, Services and Transportation, announced today a contract valued at $1,593,299.70 has been awarded to Nortech Construction Company Limited of St. John�s to carry out road improvements on the Northern Peninsula.

Projects to be completed include:

• paving section of Route 430: Green Island Cove to Eddies Cove East;
• replacing culvert at Eddies Cove East;
• paving main road at Anchor Point;
• paving approach to new ramp at the St. Barbe Wharf;
• resurfacing sections of road in Port aux Choix and Port Saunders.

"The road improvement projects we have planned for this year demonstrate our commitment to building upon and improving the transportation infrastructure of Newfoundland and Labrador," said Minister Barrett. "We recognized the need for road repairs in this area and are anxious to get work started." Minister Barrett said work will commence immediately and conclude by August 31.
