Contract awarded for overpass

Percy Barrett, Minister of Works, Services and Transportation, and Lloyd Matthews, MHA - St. John�s North, announced today a contract valued at $1,159,913 has been awarded to Trident Construction Limited of St. John�s to construct an overpass as part of the Outer Ring Road project.

The contract includes the construction of an overpass on Thorburn Road at the Bifurcation Road, and associated road work. Work has commenced and is scheduled to be completed by October 31, 2002.

"Upon completion of all work on the Bifurcation Road late next year, motorists will be able to connect from the Outer Ring Road to Kenmount Road," said Minister Barrett. "This department is continually looking for ways to improve the transportation infrastructure of Newfoundland and Labrador and, in this instance, we are glad to be able to provide motorists with yet another convenient access to and from the highway."
