Northern Labrador communities receive funding for graders

Works, Services and Transportation Minister Percy Barrett and Torngat Mountains MHA Wally Andersen announced today the provincial government has provided communities in northern Labrador with a total of $440,000 to purchase two graders.

"Works, Services and Transportation is committed to providing a solid transportation infrastructure for the province," said Minister Barrett. "The purchase of these new graders is part of our on-going efforts to improve transportation for the people of northern Labrador."

The communities of Nain and Makkovik will purchase the graders and the equipment will be shared among the communities of Hopedale, Makkovik, Nain, Postville, and Rigolet for maintaining local roads.

"This equipment will go a long way in helping make roads in these communities better for driving," said Mr. Andersen. "Once again government has demonstrated its commitment to providing quality transportation for northern Labrador."
