Significant upgrades for roads in Twillingate-Fogo district

Works, Services and Transportation Minister Percy Barrett, along with MHA Gerry Reid, announced today there are significant roads improvements planned for the District of Twillingate-Fogo this year.

"This government is very committed to improving roads throughout the province and I am pleased, that through the provincial capital roads program, we are able to carry out this work in the Twilligate-Fogo area," said Minister Barrett. "I am sure motorists using these roads will be pleased with the results once we have completed the work."

Minister Reid is pleased with the many improvements that are being made to roads in the district.

"This is another step in the continued development of our road system in Twillingate-Fogo district," said Minister Reid. "Last year, government put $1.2 million into upgrading and paving in the district, and now the funding has become available to further these efforts. In the last few years, we have quickly made some very considerable enhancements in this area, and we will continue to do so, for the benefit of these communities."

The department plans to upgrade sections of Route 340 - Road to the Isles; as well as upgrade roads on Fogo Island and Change Islands. Tenders for the projects will be called over the next several weeks.
