Road improvement projects planned for Placentia and St.Mary�s district

Percy Barrett, Minister of Works, Services and Transportation, announced today there will be improvements made to highways and roads in the District of Placentia and St. Mary�s in 2002-2003.

"We are pleased to invest in the transportation infrastructure in the district this year," said Minister Barrett. "Funding allocated through the provincial capital roads program allows us to upgrade roads in the area that are in need of repair."

Projects the department has planned for this year include resurfacing a section of Ship Harbour Road, as well as resurfacing sections of Route 100, near Cape St. Mary�s. The department expects to call tenders for the projects over the next several weeks.
