Bonavista South to receive road upgrades

Percy Barrett, Minister of Works, Services and Transportation, announced today that, through the 2002-2003 provincial capital roads program, roads will be improved in the Bonavista South area.

"As part of our ongoing commitment to improving roads in the province, I am very pleased to announce that several projects will be carried out in the area this year," said Minister Barrett. "Motorists can expect better roads in the months to come."

Projects planned include:

• upgrade section of road between Open Hall and Tickle Cove;
• upgrade and re-pave section of Route 235 near Birchy Cove;
• pave a section of Jamestown Road;
• pave sections of road in the communities of Jamestown and Winter Brook.

The department expects to call tenders for the projects over the next several weeks.
