Road upgrades for Terra Nova district

Percy Barrett, Minister of Works, Services and Transportation, along with Tom Lush, MHA - Terra Nova, announced today that several road improvement projects are planned for the District of Terra Nova this year.

"We are pleased to be building upon the transportation infrastructure of the province and investing in road upgrades for Terra Nova," said Minister Barrett. "Motorists can look forward to a smoother drive on local roads once the projects are completed."

Mr. Lush said he is pleased that important work will be completed in his district this summer. "This funding demonstrates government�s ongoing commitment to road maintenance in the province," said Mr. Lush. "I am pleased that the district of Terra Nova will benefit from improved road conditions in Bunyan�s Cove, Traytown, Glovertown, St. Brendan�s, Port Blandford and Canning�s Cove as a result of this funding."

Projects include:

  • paving local roads in Bunyan�s Cove;
  • resurfacing sections of Route 310 through Traytown and Glovertown;
  • improving roads on St. Brendan�s Island;
  • resurfacing Route 233-14, Port Blanford access road; and
  • resurfacing local road in Canning�s Cove.

The department expects to call tenders for the projects over the next several weeks.
