Roads improvements planned for Humber East

Works, Services and Transportation Minister Percy Barrett and Humber East MHA Bob Mercer announced today government has allocated funding for road improvements in the district of Humber East.

"This department is committed to improving the transportation infrastructure in Newfoundland and Labrador, and funding from the provincial capital roads program helps us do that," said Minister Barrett. "I am pleased we are able to carry out these projects in the Humber East area this year."

The department plans to replace guiderail on Lewin Parkway, Corner Brook; resurface the intersection of Mill Road and Lewin Parkway to correct wheel rutting; and make an additional contribution towards the construction of an emergency access road at Massey Drive.

"These projects, while small in comparison to others being done throughout the province, are badly needed within Corner Brook and Massey Drive," said Mercer.

The department expects to call tenders for the projects over the next several weeks.
