Major road improvements for Exploits

Premier Roger Grimes, MHA for Exploits, and Minister of Works, Services and Transportation Percy Barrett, announced today major upgrades for roads in the district of Exploits.

"Government is pleased to be investing in road transportation in the Exploits area," said Minister Barrett. "The upgrades planned for this year are being funded through our provincial roads program and are part of our ongoing commitment to providing a quality transportation system throughout the province."

Projects planned for this year include:

resurfacing a section of the Botwood Highway;

upgrading and resurfacing 2.6 kilometres of Route 350, beginning at Culls Island Causeway Bridge to the end of the road in Leading Tickles;

rehabilitating Northwest Gander River Bridge;

resurfacing approximately one kilometre through the town of Point Leamington; and

resurfacing a section of Route 352 at Phillips Head.

The department expects to call tenders for the projects over the next several weeks.
